CAMT Matches GPS Source

GPS Source is an AS9100 Rev. C certified company with core competencies in Global Positioning Satellite technology, Radio Frequency technology, and the design and certification of airworthy electronics, primarily for the aerospace, defense, telecommunications, and transportation industries. Their solutions support dynamic mission communication and enable GPS equipment to acquire signals in otherwise denied environments, such as in the cargo compartment of heavy aircraft, aircraft maintenance hangars, or train tunnels. Started in 2000, GPS Source is a 100% Veteran Owned Small Business located in Pueblo West, Colorado.

In 2011, CAMT began a Supplier Scouting partnership with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs to locate Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) capable of reverse engineering and manufacturing critical need hard-to-source parts for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).  CAMT was tasked with identifying and qualifying such VOSBs, and helping them navigate through the Federal Government procurement and bidding processes. Afterconducting an extensive search, CAMT identified GPS Source as highly qualified to reverse engineer a NAVAIR aircraft display.

Through several interactions facilitated by CAMT, GPS Source is now providing reverse engineering services to develop technical data for the T-45 Goshawk Aircraft Heads-Up Display (HUD).  Simultaneously, they are becoming a qualified manufacturing supplier for this HUD as well. Sub-assemblies that have been reverse engineered for the HUD by GPS Source include several key electromechanical elements, such as the optics, electronics and power supply. Initial efforts have resulted in $192,000 of design revenue for engineering services at GPS Source in 2011.  This reflects an increase of 10% in engineering services revenue from 2010 to 2011. In 2012, GPS Source has contracted another $500k of design revenue from this project, which could represent a 25% increase in engineering services revenue.

GPS Source’s strategic plans include aggressive new product development aimed to catapult the company from its current market position over the next five years. To help manage such rapid growth, GPS Source is currently utilizing CAMT’s product development, strategic management and continuous improvement training and consulting.
